Steel with a natural finish
115 × 100 × 720 cm
Like a bridge over an imaginary ditch or river, the two-part sculpture curves over the ground in two converging quarter circles. However, the arch is not closed but the steel elements do not touch and leave a gap of six centimetres. How can this work in static terms? Where is the safety here one needs to cross the bridge? We experience a floating state of balance. Depending on our perspective, we perceive new shapes emerging directly from the ground revealing the tension between the solid material of steel and the seeming lightness –an almost impossible static.
